How to read a signal card

Every card on this page follows the same structure so it can be scanned, trusted, or challenged in seconds. Each one states: what changed, the source behind that claim, the traveler impact, a confidence score, the safe next action, an expiry or review window, and — where relevant — what new information would change our recommendation. For example: "Tokyo suite decisions need a category check before autumn because autumn demand compresses palace-view inventory. Last verified Jun 25, 2026; confidence 86/100 from 2 sources; next action: hold preferred-category options before Sep 1." That is an illustrative example of the shape a card takes, not a live data point — always read the actual card above for the current claim, date, and source count.

Confidence scoring

Every card carries a confidence score out of 100, built from source count and source authority rather than a single unverified claim. A score in the mid-80s or above and an "Official source present" tag means the underlying fact has direct support from a primary source (a hotel, airline, DMO, or similar authority). Lower scores mean the signal is real but still needs a second source or a private check before you commit — that is what the "Watch" and "Verify" action groups are for. We would rather hold a signal in "Wait" than promote a claim that only has one weak source behind it.

When we promote or retire a signal

Hourly signals stay visible-but-noindex on this page while they are being tracked. A signal only earns a durable, indexed page in the Journal once it holds up over time: stable sourcing, a confirmed traveler outcome, and lasting relevance beyond a single booking window. Weak or time-boxed items are retired from the board once their review window closes rather than left to go stale. Review trigger: we re-check a signal on a new opening date, a reservation launch, a major rate change, a Michelin update, a host-city schedule change, or a seasonal inventory compression — whichever comes first for that signal. If none of those triggers fire, the "Last verified" date on the card is still the freshest read we have.

Each card resolves to a safe next action before promotion.
