We choose the hotel partly for what is photographable inside its own walls and grounds — a formal garden, an Art Deco courtyard, a facade on a landmark square — so a 7am or 9pm walk out the door already delivers something worth the light. From there the rest of the city's obvious set pieces are easier to fit around, timed for their own quiet hours rather than midday.
